It’s officially official: After a week of rumors, so-called confirmations and subsequent take-backs, it has been confirmed that both Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight will be staying on Grey's Anatomy.
That comes straight from the mouth of the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, and not its rumor creator James Pickens.
Castmember Pickens recently caused quite a stir when he “confirmed” the departure of Heigl and Knight.
But Rhimes took time out at Thursday night’s NAACP Image Awards -- where she and her show won -- to personally refute the rumors.
She told People, "That was a very interesting rumor, and it's not true. That was absolutely taken out of context. Things happen, and ... I think rumors become fact very easily. And you know I don't like to tell you what's going to happen on the show -- but that is a rumor."
Pickens, who was on hand at the ceremony, had his own explanation: "We've been living with these rumors for a long time. When the question was posed to me, I was more trying to congratulate Katie and T.R. on whatever they were going to do. But yeah, I don't have any special info about it either way."
So … oops!
