'Hugo' Writer John Logan to Pen 'Jersey Boys' Flick

The big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Jersey Boys is gathering momentum, with Hugo writer John Logan signing on to pen screenplay, Variety reports. Based on the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, the doo-wop group responsible for such hits as "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," and "Rag Doll," Jersey Boys is one of those greatest-hits "jukebox" musicals that have gained prominence recent years as blockbuster attractions for the easily-entertained. Other examples include Mamma Mia!, Movin' Out, and Strokin': The Clarence Carter Story.

GK films is producing the adaptation, with Columbia Pictures pegged as a likely distributing partner.
