Hugo and Harry win big at the Art Directors Guild awards

Scorsese's 3D adventure won the event's main prize for best production design in a period film, beating competition from fellow nominees The Artist, The Help, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Anonymous.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 won best production design in a fantasy film, while The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo walked away with the prize for production in a contemporary film.

Kate Winslet's acclaimed turn in TV mini-series Mildred Pierce helped the show pick up the trophy for best production in a TV movie or miniseries, and Boardwalk Empire won the one-hour single camera television series honour.

Meanwhile, Julie Andrews recorded a tribute to her ex-husband, production designer Tony Walton, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the event.

The Art Directors Guild Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, celebrate excellence in production design and art direction.
