IFC Lands Harvey Weinstein Documentary

ALT TEXTHarvey Weinstein -- you know, that guy who produces nearly every movie in Hollywood -- has a new film coming out. But he's not producing. He's documented.

IFC Entertainment has acquired the rights to Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project -- a documentary biography about the famed producer by filmmaker Barry Avrich. According to the New York Times, the film takes an honest approach to Weinstein's career and portrays the uber-producer in both positive and negative lights. It tells the story of how he and his brother Bob built Miramax films in the indie world, and eventually sold it to the Walt Disney Company.

The doc is still in production, but Avrich previewed the opening sequence to viewers earlier this week. Supposedly, it opens with an animated tour of the New York skyline, eventually ending on the Statue of Liberty -- wearing Weinstein's face. Weird!
