Ice Cube Hopes to Banish Bad Boy Reputation with Movie Role

Ice Cube stars in Dimension Films' 'The Longshots'
HOLLYWOOD - Rapper Ice Cube agreed to star in family movie The Longshots in a bid to rid his bad boy image.

The star, real name O'Shea Jackson, plays an encouraging uncle who inspires his niece to try out for the football team.

Jackson admits he took on the part so he can set a good example to youngsters.

He tells OK! magazine, "Being in the industry for over twenty years I've realized that my true fan base have kids, just like me. And I needed to make a connection to the next generation and hopefully keep some continuity in these households and sustain my career. At some point, every artist has to reach to the next generation and let them know what you're all about. This was the easiest way to do that."
