Irons' peachy for castles
HOLLYWOOD - Jeremy Irons, who once evoked controversy for portraying pedophile Humbert Humbert in Lolita, is once again in the limelight. The Oscar-winning actor has angered his Irish neighbors for painting his cliff top castle peach. Irons bought the uninhabited Kilcoe Castle several years ago and announced plans to restore it to its original beauty. According to BBC News, Irons received the planning permission of the Cork County Council and intends to carry out extensive renovations on the castle, which he owns with his wife, actress Sinead Cusack. The structure was not actually painted this color. The peach effect is a result of a limewash and sulfur mixture used for the castle's exterior finish, which will fade in time as it oxidizes in the air. The actor was in Los Angeles filming when the work was done.
