James Bond 23 Adds Spider-Man's Newest Villain

Looks like the 23rd James Bond movie got a bit more “wiry .” Rhys Ifans has joined the already impressive cast that includes Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Judi Dench and Naomie Harris. Not to mention it has Sam Mendes directing and he recently announced that Patrick Marber (he of Closer fame) will write the script. We don’t know in what capacity Ifans joins the movie (except that he’ll be acting in it) but we do know it will be awesome. How could it not? He’ll answer the paparazzi at the door in his underwear, be a mad scientist that turns into a lizard, and he’ll make out with Daniel Craig. That should definitely come in handy when dealing with international espionage and shooting people.

While Bardem has been tapped for the bad guy in the film, I’m holding out hope that Ifans will be a fellow spy. In Craig’s turn as Bond we haven’t explored much of the other spies in MI6. Granted, that’s never really been explored in the Bond universe (save for the occasional 006) so that’d be interesting. Just don’t throw him in as the comic relief. Let the man act!
