James Cameron to Infinity and Beyond?
HOLLYWOOD - He's conquered the deep sea, aliens and -- with this week's premiere of his sci-fi series "Dark Angel" -- even primetime TV.
So it would be just another action-packed day for mega-director James Cameron ("Titanic," "Aliens") if he were planning a trip to the Russian space station Mir, as the New York Post reported Tuesday.
No need to send a bon voyage card yet, however. According to his representative, the director has simply been researching upcoming projects, including an IMAX film and a TV miniseries about Mars. The research includes trips to NASA and Russian space facilities.
"He's diligently pursuing every aspect of the cosmonaut experience," says Rae Sanchini, president of Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment production company. But no actual launches are planned.
Still, after the upcoming NBC reality show "Destination Mir" sends its winning contestant to the famed space station, who would blame Cameron if he got the space travel bug?
