Jason Bateman Lands Gig As TV Director

Jason Bateman
HOLLYWOOD - Juno star Jason Bateman has inked a deal to develop and direct new TV projects--after impressing network execs with his work on forthcoming sitcom Do Not Disturb.

Under the one-year contract with 20th Century Fox TV, Bateman will head up various projects for the studio through his own banner F+A Productions.

And it was the actor's pilot directorial debut on the Jerry O'Connell-starring show Do Not Disturb that convinced studio bosses of Bateman's talent.

Chairman Gary Newman says, "He did an excellent job on the pilot visually, brought great energy and enthusiasm to it and, as an actor, he really understands how to talk to and motivate actors."

And, as an occasional Bateman golf partner, he added: "Hopefully he will be a better director than golfer."
