THEY GOT STURGESS!
The new reality-bending, time-jumping, audience-brainsploding Wachowski/Tykwer film, Cloud Atlas, has managed to rope into its already pretty stellar cast (including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon and Hugo Weaving) the rising star Jim Sturgess: a dynamo that coursed through the flavorful waves of Across the Universe.
James Anthony Sturgess, currently pollenating society with his charm in One Day, had made mention of the possibility of involvement in Cloud Atlas, but the materialization of this supreme meshing of a frantic, fascinating concept and the hero that continues to magnetize our acrid generation is just raindrops on roses.
Attempting to explain the project is futile, but in the spirit of the Sturge, here's a crack at it: we're going to see a bunch of different time periods playing out at once, with actors portraying multiple characters (which is more a comment on the interconnectivity of all life and perception than it is a measure of frugality); plus, there's something in the vein of an apocalypse.
But all this is just candy to the man whose larynx carried Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole.
