Newbie Director Lands 'He-Man' Gig

Joel Silver
He-Man is one step closer to the big screen today. Variety reports that Warner Brothers and producer Joel Silver named John Stevenson as the director of the Masters of the Universe film they’ve been working on since 2007.

This will be the Kung Fu Panda director’s first live action flick, which ironically is based on a cartoon and toy line for kids.

The film, penned by Justin Marks and based on a story by Neil Ellice, will feature prince-turned-warrior He-Man and his nemesis Skeletor.

In addition to Silver and his Silver Pictures, Barry Waldo of Mattel will executive produce.
