Angelina Jolie Completes Adoption

Angelina Jolie
HOLLYWOOD - Angelina Jolie has completed the adoption of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy in Vietnam.

The 31-year-old actress took Pham Quang Sang from Tam Binh orphanage during an emotional 30-minute visit.

Nguyen Van Trung, director of the orphanage, says, "They tried to make friends with the Vietnamese boy, who cried when he saw them because, for him, they are strangers. Jolie was very moved. Both of them tried to comfort the little boy.

"There was a small ceremony announcing the decision of the chairman of the city's people's committee. Jolie then said she agreed to adopt the child."

According to Trung, the child is to be renamed Pax Thien.

The child was then taken to Ho Chi Minh's Department of Justice for an official adoption ceremony.

Tran Viet Thai, a department official, says, "Justice department director Nguyen Duc Chinh, on behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City People's committee, read out and handed Jolie the official adoption paper, and she signed it.

"After that, she took a picture with everybody, together with the two boys. She will handle the rest of the administrative procedure with the foreign side because she is a foreigner."

Later today, Jolie will meet with U.S. consular officials, who are expected to approve the adoption and issue the child with an American passport.
