HOLLYWOOD - Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has been made a Cambodian citizen and now owns a passport for the Southeast Asian country.
The United Nations (UN) goodwill ambassador adopted her son Maddox from Cambodia, and has since set up the Maddox Jolie project, which campaigns for community development and wildlife preservation in the impoverished northwestern region of the country.
Maddox Jolie's executive director Stephan Bognar says the Tomb Raider actress was "ecstatic and thrilled" when he gave her her new passport last month.
He adds, "Maddox was there and she showed him it. It gives her a closer link, a stronger bond (with him)."
Jolie, who adopted an Ethiopian girl earlier this year, has donated $1.5 million to the Maddox Jolie project in the last three years.
