Journalists' group condemns Canadian ruling

HOLLYWOOD - The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the world's largest journalist group, has condemned a ruling by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission that permits television stations and newspapers that have the same owner to use a single reporter to cover a story. IFJ Secretary General Aidan White told the Associated Press in Brussels Monday: "Canadian consumers are going to be the losers in the process. ... There is no way that journalists and media people who are trying to gather news and feed it out simultaneously for different news-gathering systems are going to be able to maintain quality of product."
