Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin Join Ryan Murphy's 'Normal Heart'

The Normal Heart, Glee creator Ryan Murphy's film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical, has lured some major names to its cast. THR reports that Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin, Matt Bomer (TV's White Collar), and Jim Parsons (TV's Big Bang Theory) have all climbed aboard the project, joining Mark Ruffalo, who signed on to star all the way back in June of 2010. First mounted off-Broadway in 1985, the play, written by Larry Kramer, chronicles the rise of HIV/AIDS in New York City. According to THR, Roberts will play "a wheel-chair bound doctor who is one of the only doctors in New York talking [sic] the new disease seriously," a role that won Ellen Barkin a Tony, while Baldwin will play the gay-unfriendly older brother of Ruffalo's gay activist character.

Roberts also starred in Murphy's 2010 feature, Eat Pray Love. We can only hope The Normal Heart turns out better.
