Something about Katherine Heigl as a crass, unemployable Jersey brunette does not quite ring true for me. But that's what we're getting in the new action comedy One for the Money, wherein she takes a job as a bail bondsman out financial (and emotional) desperation. This new line of work takes her into the world of a wide variety of colorful characters: an elderly exhibitionist, Sherri Shepherd, and, naturally, an old fling who has taken to a life of crime.
One thing we can say for Heigl here, she is stepping at least gradually out of her type. Yes, this is still in the neighborhood of movies she usually does, but this time she's at least slightly veering from the pristine, uppity lead. Or so it seems, anyway.
One for the Money is directed by Julie Anne Robinson, who has worked with Heigl previously on Grey's Anatomy.
