Believe it or not, Kim Kardashian is still having a hard time convincing people her marriage (which lasted a whopping 72 days) wasn't a sham. But undoubtedly, your mind was put to rest after this morning's Live With Kelly show, when the reality star once again slammed rumors that she tied the knot with Kris Humphries just for fame and fortune.
Kim -- who co-hosted the show this morning -- explained the reasoning behind the quickie break-up to Kelly Ripa during their Host Chat segment, saying, "Being a hopeless romantic, I wanted to believe in something so badly. If you think I really made all that money that everyone claimed we made on the wedding and that it was for TV...I'm a smart businesswoman, I would have stayed married longer!" She went on to say, "This was a bad business decision. I really didn't think following my heart would create this much backlash."
And while some would say 72 days is a little too soon to call it quits, the E! star assures us it was a necessity. She said, "I definitely tried everything I could [to save it], but also heard stories of people who had kids and stayed married for years and it didn't end up working out. I want babies and that forever love and if I felt in my heart that this wasn't right, why wait years for the same result?" But don't worry, Kardashian still remains a hopeless romantic. "I just have to rewrite my fairytale," she said.
So there you have it. You all believe her now, right? I mean, you can't really fight with logic like that. She would never use her marriage or her divorce for anything press related (which is why she's talking about it on national television). And 72 days is more than enough time to know a marriage isn't going to work. When you know, you know (although that kind of sounds like the same excuse she used for getting married so fast in the first place). I think we all learned a valuable lesson here. Class dismissed!
