Kimberly Peirce Eyed to Direct 'Carrie' Remake

Deadline.com reports that MGM/Screen Gems are eyeing Kimberly Peirce to direct their jointly-produced remake of Carrie, the 1976 horror classic about an alienated teen who gets revenge on her cruel classmates with one wicked telekinetic s**t-show. Peirce is well-known to horror fans, having helmed 1999's terrifying Boys Don't Cry and 2008's spine-tingling Stop-Loss. Deadline calls the remake "more grounded" and more faithful to Stephen King's source novel than the Brian DePalma-directed predecessor. To which we add: Amen! Because if there's one complaint we had about the original Carrie, it's that it wasn't nearly grounded enough.
