Kingsley "thrilled and delighted" by Oscar nomination

HOLLYWOOD - Sir Ben Kingsley received an Oscar® nomination today for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his part in Fox Searchlight Pictures' Sexy Beast.

Kingsley, who plays ticking time bomb Don Logan in Sexy Beast, stated, "I am thrilled and delighted to be nominated for the role of Don Logan in Sexy Beast. This role was such a departure for me--I am very grateful to the Academy for allowing me to feel free to choose the parts I play and to not put me in a corner." He continued, "This is my third nomination and I have never felt so freed."

Kingsley won the Oscar® for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 1983 for his portrayal of Gandhi in Gandhi and was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 1992 for his role as Meyer Lansky in Bugsy.
