'L.A. Confidential' Sequel Gets Green Light

James Ellroy at the premiere of
HOLLYWOOD - Narc director Joe Carnahan will direct an adaptation of James Ellroy's sequel to L.A. Confidential.

The film, called White Jazz, will begin shooting next November.

Carnahan tells film Web site Dark Horizons, "My brother and I wrote the adaptation. The script is one of my favorites. It's heartbreaking.

"It's, to me, what that book always was--the point of departure from the Eisenhower ‘50s to the psychedelic freakshow, Manson '60s.

"It's a total combination of the two with a heavy, heavy voice-over narration, this kind of classic noir."

Carnahan recently completed work on Smokin' Aces starring Ben Affleck, Ray Liotta and Alicia Keys.
