Letterman Producer 'Threatened Tell-All Book'

David Letterman the host of CBS' 'The Late Night Show with David Letterman'
The producer who allegedly threatened to expose David Letterman's affairs wanted to write a tell-all book filled with sordid details about the TV star's messy love life, according to reports.

Robert 'Joe' Halderman has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted first-degree grand larceny after allegedly threatening to expose Letterman's flings with his Late Show employees unless the TV titan paid $2 million to keep the details out of the press.

Letterman addressed the allegations against him on his show at the beginning of the month, coming clean on air after testifying before a grand jury earlier in the day.

Now a judge has ordered the release of law enforcement affidavits and a list of evidence taken from Halderman's home.

The court documents show that Halderman has been accused of allegedly threatening to publish an expose unless Letterman paid up.

According to one affidavit, Letterman's lawyers allege that Halderman told them he planned to "write the book and publicize the information" if he was not paid. He was later arrested after depositing a phony $2 million check into his bank account.

Halderman, who has been suspended from his job pending an investigation, has been freed on $200,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 10.
