HOLLYWOOD - Feuding socialites Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie's reality TV show The Simple Life is no more, after Fox decided to pull the plug on the would-be fourth season of the program. Hotel heiress Hilton, 24, and soul singer Lionel Richie's daughter Nicole, 24, leapt to fame in 2003 when they removed themselves from their pampered existences to live a simple life with normal American families and work in regular employment. But after filming the third season The Simple Life: Interns, which hits TV screens this year, the best friends fell out, refusing to disclose the reason behind their rift.
Despite the pair having signed a contract for a fourth season and Hilton's idea of bringing in her pal Kimberly Stewart to replace Nicole, the network has now decided to dump the show.
A statement from Fox says, "We did not see a place for The Simple Life on our schedule this season."
Nevertheless studio bosses at 20th Century Fox Television are hopeful they may continue the show on another channel, saying, "We're disappointed that The Simple Life will not continue on Fox where it has performed so well, but we believe this series is still a dynamic and valuable franchise."
