Lopez to Play Superhero in "Shrink"

Enough Premiere
HOLLYWOOD - Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez is set to play a superhero psychologist in the upcoming comedy Shrink, based on an Internet comic strip by former Marvel Comics creator/illustrator Rob Liefeld.

Shrink will be Lopez's first project with Columbia Pictures since signing a three-year, first-look feature deal with the studio. Under the deal, Lopez will develop and produce projects through her Nuyorican Productions, the banner she recently formed with her Handprint Entertainment manager Benny Medina.

According to Variety, the movie deals with a world inhabited by superheroes who turn to a shrink for help. Played by Lopez, the shrink was once a superhero herself until a devastating incident spurred her to shield that power and lead a more normal civilian life. The protagonist, however, finds herself in a love triangle between a villain and virtuous superbeings.

The film has been described as a cross between Men in Black and Analyze This, and Columbia hopes to use Spandex-clad heroes for the comedy with a serious side, Variety reports.

Lopez is currently starring in Columbia's Enough.
