HOLLYWOOD - Comedian Louis Nye died on Sunday at his Los Angeles home. He was92.
The funnyman, famed for the catchphrase "Hi, ho, Steverino!" had been
battling lung cancer for several years.
Nye shot to fame as one of the players on Steve Allen's groundbreaking 1950s
TV show where he became an audience favorite playing the bumbling Gordon
Hathaway, a country club snob best remembered for his funny salutation.
The popular comedian was also a talented impressionist with a large
repertoire of characters he could assume. In the 1980s and 1990s he provided a
range voices for the Inspector Gadget cartoon show.
His son Peter says, "He had a great business card from that time that lists
something like 15 accents that he could do."
Movie credits include Cannonball Run II, Won Ton Ton, The Dog Who Saved
Hollywood and A Guide for the Married Man.
His son believes the talented entertainer will be remembered for being "just
naturally funny."
