Love wins battle for Cobain song
HOLLYWOOD - Rocker Courtney Love has won an injunction against the release of a song recorded by Kurt Cobain and Nirvana before his 1994 death, according to The Associated Press. Love and Nirvana's two remaining band members, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, are battling over control of a studio recording of the song and a 45-track box set. Grohl and Novoselic want to release the song as part of the box set that would commemorate the 10th anniversary of Nirvana's Nevermind. Nirvana performed the song in concert in 1993 and Love's band Hole also performed the song two years later. Love also is trying to dissolve a corporation she formed with Grohl and Novoselic called Nirvana L.L.C., which requires that proceeds from their assets be divided equally among them. According to The Associated Press, court papers state that Love said she was emotionally distraught when she entered the partnership. The song, known by various names, including On the Mountain, You've Got No Right and You Know You're Right, could prove to be very lucrative.
