HOLLYWOOD - Master of camp John Waters will serve as the host at the 16th annual IFP/West Independent Spirit Awards, Daily Variety reports.
Previous emcees of the indie film awards include Jennifer Tilly, Buck Henry, Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Pollak, John Turturro and Queen Latifah.
"Hosting the Independent Spirit Awards makes me feel like a combination of Buddy Hackett and Satyajit Ray," Waters was quoted as saying.
Whatever that means aside, the announcement of the award nominees will take place Jan. 10 at Los Angeles' El Rey Theater.
This year's IFP/West Independent Spirit Awards will be held March 24 along the beach in Santa Monica, with a live broadcast on the Independent Film Channel.
