MTV's 'The Hard Times of RJ Berger' Cancelled

Paul IaconoThe few of those out there aware that this show existed might be disappointed to hear that The Hard Times of RJ Berger will not be returning to television. MTV's very MTV teen comedy followed Paul Iacono (Fame) as the titular Berger: a high school student cursed with an awkward, dorky persona who's gifted... anatomically. The series took the form of traditional high school comedies: a group of unpopular kids with aspirations to soar socially. There are romantic longings both in-group and out: always unrequited. Berger was notably more raunchy and contemporary than other examples, however.

The series' second season viewership decreased from three million to one million from premiere to finale, resulting in cancellation. MTV has a slew of scripted series ready to debut, including Death Valley, Good Vibes, The In-Betweeners, and the return of Beavis and Butt-head.
