HOLLYWOOD - Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend are "elated" after the birth of their first child, a baby boy.
Brazilian model Camila Alves gave birth to a seven-pound, four-ounce son at 6:22 p.m. in Los Angeles on Monday night, the actor's representative Alan Nierob confirms to People.com.
In a statement to OK! magazine, McConaughey says, "Camila and I were side by side the entire time.
"We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world--having a child and making a family. Now comes the greatest adventure--raising one, together."
The Fool's Gold star announced the news that he and Alves were expecting on his official Web site in January.
