Mel Gibson Will Make a Fourth "Mad Max" Movie

Mel Gibson
HOLLYWOOD - You know, it couldn't happen without him.

Variety reports Mel Gibson will be paid roughly $25 million to star in a fourth Mad Max installment called Fury Road for 20th Century Fox.

Director George Miller, who helmed and co-wrote the first three films (1979's Mad Max, 1981's The Road Warrior and 1985's Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome) and who helped put Gibson on the map, will direct once again from a script he has been working on for the past three years, Variety reports.

Not much of the plot has been revealed other than "Mad" Max Rockatansky, the lone wolf in a post-apocalyptic Australia, will once again roam the lawless outback territory.

Production is set to start in Australia next May.
