Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts Finally a Go for 'August: Osage Country'

Nearly a year and a half after first entering talks to star in an film adaption of Tracy Letts' Tony Award-winning play August: Osage Country, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts at last appear poised to move forward, THR reports. News of the Oscar-winning duo's interest in the project first broke in September 2010, but the ever-unpredictable "ironing out the details" process took a tad longer than anticipated. Today the Weinstein Company made the casting official. Production is slated to begin this fall, with John Wells (Shameless) directing.

According to THR, August: Osage Country concerns "the women of a family whose lives have splintered in many directions until a crisis bring them back to their childhood home and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them." Streep will play said dysfunctional woman; Roberts will portray her no-doubt resentful daughter. Here's hoping they can work things out.
