Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ To Be Turned Into A Movie

ThrillerZombies + Dancing + Michael Jackson = $$$

You know what, this actually makes sense, kind of. Turning Thriller into a feature length movie is one of the smarter objects we have seen movie makers turn to for inspiration. It’s entirely possible to look at the full music video for Thriller as a short film that just happened to have a random dance break in the middle. It has a coherent story that can be expanded on and it already has a huge fan base. There have been dumber things optioned as movies (gum wrappers, kids games, and these books), so I’m not that worried about this film.

Kenny Ortega is slated to direct. Ortega happens to have a history of working on Jackson’s material, he directed last year’s This Is It. Writing the film has fallen to Jeremy Garelick, who only has The Break-Up writing credit to his name. This film adaptation is just another person continuing cash in on Michael Jackson's posthumous career. Surprisingly, he has proven to be quite valuable after passing away last year. One has to wonder if he has become so valuable because he is no longer around to tarnish his own reputation. Just speculating.

And this isn’t even everything planned for Michael Jackson. Cirque du Soleil has two shows planned around MJ’s music and there is an early life biopic in the making. Michael Jackson may be gone but he hasn’t left us yet. Man, that is probably the creepiest sentence I will ever write.
