A few weeks ago The Green Hornet appeared to be spiraling into development hell, but today things are looking up for the super-hero flick. Michel Gondry, the zany French director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Be Kind Rewind, is in talks to direct the flick.

If he takes the gig, Gondry will direct funnyman Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet and Stephen Chow as his sidekick Kato. Chow was tapped to direct, but dropped out due to creative differences and Rogen penned the project along with his writing partner Evan Goldberg.

The Hollywood Reporter interprets the move as a creative indicating that producer Neal Moritz is trying to take the crime-fighting film to a new level.
The film follows the exploits of Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher with a secret identity, and his trusty helper and chauffeur Kato.
