Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore are circling the English-language remake of French hit LOL (Laughing Out Loud). Variety reports that the film's original director, Lisa Azuelos, is set to write and direct the remake on which Mandate Intl. is handling international sales.

Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher, of Double Feature Films, are producers. Romaine Le Grand and Nathan Kahane are exec producers.

The film tells the story of a 15-year-old girl who, dumped by her more sexually experienced boyfriend, sets her sights on his best friend. At the same time, her 40-year-old divorcee mother is struggling to move on with her life. The fraught relationship between mother and daughter provides the film with its narrative backbone, along with the younger generation's obsession with instant messaging.

The French version was the second-highest-grossing local film released in France last year. Pathe handled the French release in which Sophie Marceau and Christa Theret starred as the bickering mother and daughter.

Azeulos has a strong track record in France. Her last film, Comme T'y Es Belle, was a sleeper hit locally, selling over one million tickets in 2006. Wild Bunch handled that film.
