In what seems like an attempt to compete with its counterpart on Fox, American Idol released a new promo for the season set to premiere this January. Absent are the innappropriate (see: hilarious) sexual innuendos from Steven Tyler, the "yo dawg, I gotta tell ya's" from Randy Jackson and the water works from Jennifer Lopez. Instead our merry band of judges -- oh yeah, and Ryan Seacrest too -- are strolling through some generic town grabbing every smiling young person they can find along the way and hearding them into an audition theater. It makes sense though. Idol has always sold us hope before delivering scenes of singing Transformers and Justin Bieber opera. This is just step one of many.
