Can a man do the job?

Twilight may skew girly, but according to Deadline Hollywood, Golden Compass director Chris Weitz was offered a two-picture deal for New Moon and Eclipse (if the films are done back-to-back). This comes a day after Summit Entertainment stated that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke would not be back for New Moon.

Weitz, also directed About a Boy and Down to Earth, is “still considering” the deal.

According to Deadline’s sources, Summit “liked the look” of Compass and that he’s good buds with the studio president, Eric Feig.
