Backstreet Boy Nick Carter broke his hand Saturday, forcing the pop band to postpone their remaining sold-out concerts on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the FleetCenter in Boston, The Associated Press reports. The band also announced Monday that A.J. McLean is in rehab for treatment of depression and alcohol abuse, AP reports. He will remain in rehab for 30 days at an unknown location. The band, which had earlier announced that they would reschedule the Boston concerts in early September, has now postponed the rest of its U.S. and Canada concert tour dates.
Leonardo DiCaprio is on crutches after he sprained his knee July 1 playing basketball with his celebrity friends, People magazine reports.
Died
Fred Neil, the folk singer who penned "Everybody's Talkin'" from Midnight Cowboy, was found dead Saturday at his home in Summerland Key, Fla., Reuters reports. He died of natural causes, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said. Mr. Neil's song became a top 10 hit for Harry Nilsson. The native Floridian also founded The Dolphin Research Project in 1970. His age was not available.
Awards
Patrick Stewart, of Star Trek: The Next Generation, will receive an honorary fellowship Monday from Cardiff University in Wales. The 60-year-old actor is being honored for his work in theater, film and television, the BBC reports.
Shannon Elizabeth will receive a breakthrough performance award during the fifth annual Hollywood Film Festival for her work in American Pie and Scary Movie. The festival, which will run from Aug. 2 through Aug. 6, also will honor director John Frankenheimer and producer Edward S. Feldman.
The Deauville Festival of American Cinema will pay tribute to Stanley Kubrick by screening a retrospective of the late director's films, Variety reports. Steven Spielberg, who wrote and directed A.I.: Artificial Intelligence based on an idea by Kubrick, will attend. The French film festival will run Aug. 31 through Sept. 9.

Oscar winners Steven Soderbergh and Benicio Del Toro are in Cuba this week to host free screenings of Traffic, Reuters reports. They arrived Sunday and plan to attend Monday's premiere in Havana before spending the rest of the week visiting local film schools and key film industry figures. Soderbergh wants the film to serve as a "cautionary tale" for Cuba, which reportedly does not have a serious drug problem.
Robert Redford continues to slam President Bush on the environment. On the eve of next week's international global climate conference, Reuters reports that the Sundance Kid labeled Bush "ignorant" on the environment in an interview with German weekly magazine Stern. "Bush doesn't have a clue," Redford reportedly said.
Time magazine reports that Marlon Brando refused to step on the set of The Score at the same time as director Frank Oz, forcing costar Robert De Niro to direct one of the legendary method actor's scenes. Oz, whom Brando reportedly taunted for providing the voice of Miss Piggy on The Muppet Show, watched the scene from an offsite monitor and instructed De Niro through an assistant director.
Change of Heart will have a change of host. Standup comic Lynee Koplitz will replace Chris Jagger when the syndicated dating show moves in the fall from Los Angeles to New York, Variety reports.
