Next Judd Apatow Flick Due June 1, 2012

ALT TEXTJudd Apatow -- the man who made boner jokes funny again -- is back.

The filmmaker responsible for The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Funny People is set to release his next movie on June 1st, 2012. Universal will distribute, marking the fourth time the company has carried a project of his. In fact, Apatow has yet to direct a film distributed by another company.

Apatow is currently writing the script, but there's no plot details, title, or casting news for the public. But, we think Paul Rudd may be involved somehow. Yeah, Rudd has Wanderlust coming up (which Apatow is producing), but if you look at the crew that Apatow usually runs with, casting Rudd as the lead makes sense. Steve Carell had the lead in his first film, followed by Seth Rogen, then Adam Sandler, so next in line should be Rudd. Like I said, this is all speculation, but I don't think it's that ridiculous an idea to assume.

Regardless, this is all good news for Apatow's legacy. After the not so funny Funny People, he'll have a chance to redeem himself before the world ends in December 2012.
