'Orphanage' Remake Seeks Amy Adams to Star

Director Mark Pellington has initiated the casting process for The Orphanage, his remake of Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona's 2007 horror film, El Orfanato, and he's aiming high. According to Bloody Disgusting, the Henry Poole Is Here director is seeking three-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams to star in the film as Laura, a woman who decides to open up an orphanage for handicapped youths in her childhood home. (Always a great idea.) The original film, which was produced by Guillermo del Toro, was well-regarded by critics and is considered a minor classic by genre fans. Which means a high-profile English-language remake is all but mandatory.

Adams can next be seen in a film with a slightly different tone: The Muppets, in which she co-stars with Jason Segel and Chris Cooper.
