Oscar Tragedy: Five Injured in Collapse

Hollywood - Tragedy struck late Thursday outside the Shrine Auditorium -- the site of Sunday's Academy Awards ceremony -- as a 20 ft. lighting scaffold suddenly fell to the ground.

Five people were injured in the incident: one critically, one seriously, and three with minor injuries, Los Angeles Fire Department officials told the press. All were taken to area hospitals.

The scaffolding was still under construction when the structure collapsed. It had been supporting the weight of lighting equipment and several massive curtains.

The 73rd Annual Academy Awards presentation is still set to kick off on Sunday, Mar. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
