Al Pacino
has bought the film rights to Philip Roth's most recent novel,
The Humbling
.
The New York Times
reports that Pacino will play the lead with
Barry Levinson
directing and
Buck Henry
writing the screenplay. No studio is involved yet.
The news comes to the
Times
by way of
Pat Kingsley
.
The project follows an aging and irrelevant stage actor who finds hope of renewal through a younger woman.
