'Paranormal Activity 3' Directors Joost and Schulman Return for 'Paranormal Activity 4'

Paranormal ActivityOren Peli directed Paranormal Activity in 2007. Since then, he's (supposedly) directed a movie called Area 51 ("shot" in 2009). Tod Willaims directed Paranormal Activity 2 in 2012. Since then, he's directed nothing. And Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman directed Paranormal Activity 3 in 2011—but they're not prepared to fall victim to the PA curse. The duo is quickly signing up to direct another movie: Paranormal Activity 4, which was confirmed just two days ago and got a release date yesterday.

Everybody knows that directing two Paranormal Activity movies will actually cancel out the hex, affording this pair a great, prosperous career in filmmaking. In actuality, Joost and Schulman did some very interesting, favorable things with PA3, making creative use of the found-footage technique and instilling a new, vibrant mythology into the series.

Clearly, they have a passion for the films, indicated by all the work they put into PA3, and, more so, by their willingness to return for PA4. Plus, their 2010 documentary Catfish earned a great deal of acclaim, so they're clearly not limited to the Paranormal Activity world talent-wise. They're just a pair of normal guys who are really into the sci-fi/horror series. And apparently, Paramount is totally on board with that.
