Pasadena, Hollywood's neighbor, moves to Canada

HOLLYWOOD - Dramatizing Hollywood's runaway production problems, a primetime soap opera titled Pasadena, due to air on Fox, will be filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia beginning Monday, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday. "It's very ironic and unfortunate," Pasadena film chief Ariel Penn told the newspaper. WGA executive director Bryan Unger suggested that the irony was compounded by the fact that "Pasadena is literally outside the doors of the studios." But Brad Grey, whose Brillstein-Grey company is producing the series, told the newspaper, "Our preference is to be shooting locally, but the economics are such that is basically impossible to produce it in any fiscally responsible way unless we go to Canada."
