Elizabeth Banks has been in her fair share of notable movies throughout the years, which includes Definitely, Maybe, Role Models, and Our Idiot Brother. But none of her previous characters have received quite as much hype as that of her upcoming role in the highly anticipated saga, The Hunger Games (March 23). Banks plays the overly-preppy Effie Trinket, whose main responsibility consists of drawing the names of those who are to participate in the Games -- a survival of the fittest type of competition where all those involved are instructed to fight to the death. It's a role unlike anything we've seen her in before and in fact, it's going to be a little difficult to recognize her.
A new photo has been released of Banks dressed as the eccentric, technicolor-costumed Effie (left) and the transformation is astonishing. Between the unique floral get up and the pink hair and eye make-up, you can't even for sure if it really is Banks. But the actress is more than happy to completely change her look for the role and recently said to the Huffington Post, "A fun part of being an actor and a chameleon is taking on those looks. Effie has a really theatrical, over-the-top, completely not me look to her. I'm very excited for people to see my portrayal. I have no idea if people are going to be into it. I hope they are."
Now being a huge fan of the books, I'm already a hardcore fan of the upcoming film, but even newcomers to the series will be intrigued by such an eye-catching costume as hers. Ironically, while her wardrobe is bright and bubbly, her actual role in the film is anything but -- she's the one escorting the death-match contestants to their fates. But, Banks is sure to dazzle and make the character just as memorable as her ensemble. Believe me, this is one project of hers you won't want to miss.
