Pitt, Portman To Star In Mottola's 'Important Artifacts'

In what is sure to be today's oddest pairing of actors on a project, Risky Business reports that Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman will both produce and star in an adaptation of Leanne Shapton's "Important Artifacts and Personal Property From the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion and Jewelry” — which has just been published by Farrar Straus & Giroux.

An art director at The New York Times, Shapton crafted a fictional estate auction catalog full of personal items and photographs from the four-year romance between a male photographer and a younger food columnist.

Writer/director Greg Mottola (Superbad, Adventureland) will spin the story into a romantic comedy for the studio.

Though the coupling of Pitt and Portman seems a bit strange at first glance, both are highly respectable actors who rarely venture into rom-com territory, so we're excited to see what they can do with this already offbeat project.
