In what is sure to be today's oddest pairing of actors on a project,
Risky Business
reports that
Brad Pitt
and
Natalie Portman
will both produce and star in an adaptation of
Leanne Shapton's
"
Important Artifacts and Personal Property From the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion and Jewelry
” — which has just been published by Farrar Straus & Giroux.
An art director at
The New York Times
, Shapton crafted a fictional estate auction catalog full of personal items and photographs from the four-year romance between a male photographer and a younger food columnist.
Writer/director
Greg Mottola
(
Superbad
,
Adventureland
) will spin the story into a romantic comedy for the studio.
Though the coupling of Pitt and Portman seems a bit strange at first glance, both are highly respectable actors who rarely venture into rom-com territory, so we're excited to see what they can do with this already offbeat project.
