'Prairie' Doctor Kevin Hagen Dies

HOLLYWOOD - Veteran actor Kevin Hagen died on July 9 from esophageal cancer. He

was 77. Hagen passed away at his home in Grants Pass, Oregon after battling the

disease for a year.

He started his acting career in TV series Dragnet and went on to star

opposite movie legend James Stewart in 1965 movie Shenandoah.

But he will be remembered most for leaving behind a string of bad guy roles

in Westerns including Rawhide and Gunsmoke to become the kindly Dr. Hiram Baker

in hit TV drama Little House on the Prairie.
