HOLLYWOOD - Jackass star Steve-O is on suicide watch in a Los Angeles hospital after threatening to kill himself, according to Star magazine.
A source close to the 33-year-old stuntman has told the tabloid Steve-O, real name Stephen Glover, was taken to the city's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Sunday after he allegedly emailed 33 suicide notes to friends.
After reportedly causing a scene in the emergency room, doctors carried out drug tests before admitting Steve-O to the Thalians Mental Health Center and placing him on a 72-hour hold--meaning they have reason to believe he is a harm to himself or others.
That has since been extended to 14 days, according to Star.
The source tells the publication, "Steve is stabilized on meds at this point. He was also treated for burns on his skin as if he had been putting cigarettes out on his own body."
A family member is quoted telling the publication that Steve-O suffers from bipolar disorder, adding, "Right now he's in his extreme mania. His concerned friends and family are hoping he'll seek treatment."
A spokeswoman for Steve-O's agent, Adam Sher, said, "He doesn't offer press comments about his clients."
