Robert De Niro Producing New CBS Cop Drama 'Rookies'

CBSHey, Blue Bloods, guess what? You've got a new pawt-nah in crime-fighting!

Okay, apologies for that horrible, horrible joke. Anyway, here's the news. Through their production company Tribeca, Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal are executive producing a new NYC-based cop-drama from Richard Price on CBS called Rookies and it's about, well, six rookies on the force. According to Deadline, the series will deal with how the cops balance their work and personal lives, which, you know, hasn't ever been done before at all (except for Blue Bloods, CSI: NY, and oh yeah, this little show called NYPD: Blue). Kidding aside, I'll ease up on them a little because this show actually may not be too bad. Price wrote for The Wire, which is widely considered to be one of the greatest TV shows of all-time. But still, it is CBS.

Regardless, Robert De Niro is involved, so we can at least hope for a cameo from an aged Travis Bickle, amirite?! And yes, damnit, I'm talkin' to you.
