Production designer Robert Stromberg has been brought on by Disney to direct Angelina Jolie in Maleficent, which will mark his behind-the-camera debut.
Stromberg isn't a big-movie newcomer, by any means: He has won Oscars the past two years for his work on Alice in Wonderland and Avatar, and he's worked in the visual-effects department for decades.
Maleficent is a quasi-reboot of the age-old Sleeping Beauty tale, with Jolie slated to play the title villainess.
