Roman Polanski 'Never Touched' Model

The Pianist
HOLLYWOOD - The Swedish model Roman Polanski allegedly tried to seduce in 1969 insists the director never spoke to her.

Vanity Fair magazine alleged in a 2002 article Polanski, 72, touched Beatte Telle's leg and told her he would "make another Sharon Tate" out of her in a New York restaurant shortly after Tate--his actress wife--had been murdered by followers of Charles Manson's cult.

Polanski denied making the comment, London's High Court agreed, and he was awarded $88,000 on Friday.

And Telle, 59, maintains Polanski merely "stared" at her at the restaurant--despite her then boyfriend Edward Perlberg testifying in court that she was upset by the filmmakers advance.

Telle says, "Roman Polanski came over to the table where I was eating and it was as if he tried to say something but didn't.

"He never said that he would 'make me another Sharon Tate' or that he would make me a star. He never spoke to me at all.

"Polanski just stood there. He just stared at me for ages. Perhaps I reminded him of Sharon Tate.

"If Ed says that Polanski spoke to me or did anything at all to me or upset me then he is confused."

And Telle--who refused to appear in court--is pleased with the verdict: "I am pleased for him. I'm smiling. He didn't touch me, he just didn't."

Polanski gave evidence via video link from Paris, France as he faces extradition to America should he set foot in Britain--he is wanted in the US after fleeing the country before he could be sentenced for having sex with a 13 year old girl in 1978.
