HOLLYWOOD - Winona Ryder boycotted this month's Cannes Film Festival because she hasn't yet recovered from her shoplifting conviction four years ago, according to her co-star Keanu Reeves.
Reeves and Robert Downey Jr. were left to promote A Scanner Darkly at the festival without Ryder, who has avoided the limelight since she was found guilty of stealing from a Beverly Hill department store in 2002.
Reeves explains, "Robert and I were speaking of how we miss her and wish she was here because she's such a delightful person and really good actress.
"But, for her to be here and have to deal with all these other kinds of questions--I don't know if she's quite ready to do that."
